Previously I've been addon free in WoW because of game stability issues. The game has been more stable for me since the last patch so I want to have a look at some addons. But I've not really looked into them much so don't know what the good ones are. Could any of you addon junkies recommend some good ones please? I don't want a giant do-it-all addon like Cosmos, just a few helper addons to do some specific things, such as:

1) Monitor the health and buff status of raid group members (and if possible to allow healing and curing them via their icon in the addon's display).

2) Monitor the health of group pets.

3) Provide useful stats on stuff like DPS etc.

4) Provide useful information on items such as what crafts use them etc.

5) Anything which makes using the auction system better.

6) Anything else which might be generally useful.

Addon-junkie reporting in!
16 addons at the moment, most of them somewhat necessary.

1) Commonly use CT RaidAssist ( http://www.ctmod.net/ ). Get that just because everyone else uses it. Mods like that are somewhat useless if everyone uses a different one. I'm not even sure if any other mods for the purpose exist.

2) Wait for next patch. Pet status is included in that.

3) I don't use anything like this myself, but I hear CombatStats is the winners' choice: http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=410

4+5) Auctioneer. http://norgs.internutter.org/auctioneer.htm

6) I personally recommend RedOut!: http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=363 , which makes spells red when targets are out of range.

Another mod I recommend is Telo's SelfCast: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-interface-customization&t=2626&p=1&tmp=1#post2626
which allows casting beneficial spells on yourself when you have an enemy selected.

Atlas is also somewhat useful for instance-grinding, since it provides maps of variety of instances. Usefulness degrades over time of course.

I think that was it.

First off you want to browse

http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php

I use Insomniax compilation (link below), however this is a MASSIVE compliation, and you will need to turn alot of the crap off, but it leaves you with pretty much everything you could want.

http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=297

This site has all the add-ons you could want, and they r rated by users, so either dl a compilation and turn off whats not relevant to you, or pick and choose.

I use many of the above Tom mentioned, adding to that:

3) Damagemeters - stats on your groups damage, healing etc kinda fun utility but not 100% accurate

6) a few things that I use:

Autobar - little panel of buttons that auto populates with consumables such as pots, healthstone etc. No more dragging things from your inv to your UI

Scrolling Combat text - I highly recommend. Shows stuff from your combat log thats useful above your head, such as debuff, healing, damage, effects etc. Kinda looks poor but very quick at telling me whats happening.

Quick mount equip - simple mod that automatically swaps trinkets (for carrot on a stick) and boots (for spurs) when you mount/dismount.

Minigroup - changes default party frame to something much better in my opinion. Very customisable, also like because it's configurable to be more like the daoc group interface :)

I should imagine as a Shaman you might be interested in some of the weapon/armour swap mods also, though I don't use these being a priest I cant really comment.
