AVG Anti-Virus

Hey folks,

Its that time again for me, renewal of my antiviral software.  I was wondering if anyone else uses AVG and if they do whether they are on the normal package like me or if they have upgraded to AVG 8.0.  I have a few days left on my old license and am wondering if I should save myself ?20 (over 2 years its nothing but I am saving up atm) or get the new version, basically is the new version that good or will the basic package + Windows Firewall + Ad-aware + Spybot be enough?

The link below should give anyone who wants to and has time the web page to check it out.  By default I generally go with the more expensive better protection when it comes to things like this but I could really do with not spending almost ?50 atm on it right now

Dunno sax sorry, i use a different AV. I thought AVG had a free to use option though if you just wanted AV ?

Hiya Sax,

I'm using AVG 8.0 (the free version) and it seems to work fine. Used to have Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition, but it doesn't run on Vista so had to switch. Didn't feel like paying as there are good free ones available and I don't do stupid stuff on my PC anyway.

been using Avast, they do free personal use edition, used it for about 4 years never had any virus (at least I think I've never) and it's pretty stable product if you're looking for a different option.
