Thats heroes of might and magic V.

Well I have only played it for a couple of hours so I dont exactly have indepth knowledge of it, but I can say I am not keen.  The game reminds me of a dumbed down Final Fantasy game, and it has alot in common with those games, it seems like a slow rts game as you move about the map, then the turn based tactical game just seems to be lacking to me.  I haven't tried multi player yet or gotten a handle on any fancy units, so i'll have a go at that, but so far not impressed.

Back to Galactic Civ 2 for now methinks, a , and this is imo, much better game.

Sax.

Last one in that series I played was HoMaM3 and if I recall it got tedious pretty quick due to a lack of variation in gameplay and the lack of any real AI from the computer opponent. Most battles took the same form. Perhaps better fun multiplayer, but would have thought it's a bit drawn out for that?

Was drawn out in single player, lots of battles that were kinda boring, would prefer fewer more significant and deep battles tbh.  Shame was expecting something special from this game.  If I want this kinda game play in the future i'll boot the ps2 up and play FF10 am real close to completing it as well, but haven't touched it for an age.

I'm close to the end of FF10 too, but not played it in ages. Got the final battle with Sin to do and also the Omega Ruins and the various weapon quests. But my team aren't strong enough yet, still need to fill out their grids and I got kind of bogged down by the grind of preparing for the endgame (sounds familiar huh).

tbh I doubt I can remember how to play anymore its been so long, a friend of mine did it and said that Sin was easy, but he'd used to cheat book to get into every nook and cranny of the game and ultra equip his team.  I think the FF games r almost made to NEED the cheat books theres so much else going on and so many places to goto ...

Am not back to work until Thursday, hmmm :)

Been playing HoMMV too, and I agree, it's a bit too slow paced, which is a shame. Dunno if you've played with the game options settings, but it's possible to speed it up from default, by changing the hero move speed, battle animation speed... plus you can turn quick battle resolve on, and for those piddly little fights let the CPU do them. Sometimes it will lose some of your good units, but you just click replay and do the fight again manually. Helps speed it up a little... it was sluggish in the extreme for the first few missions until I played with the options. Now it's just slow ;)
