The heavyweight division has always been the figure head of boxing, i don't think its a coincidence that with its decline boxing has become less and less popular in the mainstream of sporting news... But with David Haye moving up from Cruiserweight, running his mouth abit and beating up the Giant, people who aren't necessarily Boxing fans watched the fight and cheered him on for the sake of the spectacle and the event. And now David defended his World title against tough, but faded, John Ruiz, what next?

Before he even had his first Heavyweight fight Haye had been trash talking the Klitschko brothers, 2 Ukrainian Boxers that had been dominating this underskilled Heavyweight Division for years. Their talent can't be denied, but their boring styles, perceived lack of Charisma and the fact they are not American stopped them from becoming stars outside of Europe...

Hayes talk and antics really got to the Brothers and the younger of the 2, Wladimir Klitschko, had a fight contract signed with Haye for 20th June 2009, but David pulled out with an Injury he got in training camp(back or hand injury, reports were dodgey). After that David recovered from his "injury" and was planing a fight with older brother Vitali Klitschko, but negotiations fell through as the Haye camp just lost interest in the fight for unknown reasons...

Since then the Klitschko's just carried on doing their thing, beating their mandatory oppenents, and David beat Valuev becoming a world champ and defended againt Ruiz. Yesterday this video was posted on the offical Klitschko Website...(only 30secs)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe-Z7QN_t6M

This could be the biggest thing to happen in Heavyweight Boxing(and there by Boxing)for Decades. Watch out for this fight! you prolly won't be able to miss it.

The video message:

Quote
I am Wladimir Klitschko and i want to send this message to the Boxing fans around the world, and directly to David Haye. David you've bitched out on fighting both Klitschko brothers twice already, nows the time to make it happen. So on behalve of the boxing fans around the world, i'm officially calling you out to fight me. David you can't run away from me forever, and you need to follow through with this fight to get respect. I'm ready, what you waiting for?

I must break you!

hehe sorry Xan I gotta admit I don't follow much boxing :) I thought there came a point where you just couldn't avoid a fight, although it all does sound a bit rigged at times !

Not that I'm a boxing fan, but I just noticed it looks like it's finally happening on Saturday: David Haye vs Wladimir Klitschko.

Katsui :: Huldra :: Blades/Assault Rifle
Spookks :: Huldra :: Pistols/Elementalism

Saw some of the build up interviews, lots of the usual trash talk and personal insults from Haye. I don't like that, you should respect your opponents. He called Klitschko a "dickhead" but the only dickhead was the one handing out the personal insults and inappropriate threats of decapitation etc. He deserves to get his arse kicked hard and probably will as Klitschko is the better boxer.

Yeah its annoying.

Things that he said that annoyed me the most tho are "saving the Heavywieght Division" "Bringing the belts back to the U.K" and "Beating the boring Bro's for all Boxing fans"

He said hes gonna retire in October, so wtf is he actully doing??? after he beats Wlad then becomes a movie star, or whatever he wants to do, Wlad comes back like a real Champ and dominates the divison for a few more years. He doesn't give a shit about his fans, or what anybody thinks of him, hes all about the money.

Once he retires hes off the list, no calling yourself the Champ when you just give the belts back after winning them...

I really hope most Boxing fans will see it this way, David will be like a blip on a Radar in the middle of Wlad's terrific Boxing Career.

But anyway, this has been so long in the making, i just hope its a spectacle and not a blowout either way.
